The problem

General AI wasn't made for sellers.

You have to write the prompt

ChatGPT doesn't know what Etsy buyers respond to, what keywords matter, or what tone converts. You have to teach it every time.

The output sounds like AI

"Perfect for any occasion." "Makes a great gift." Generic phrases that buyers scroll past — and Etsy's algorithm ignores.

It doesn't see your product

You describe the item in words and hope it understands. Fernscribe looks at the actual photo and writes from what it sees.

How it works

Three steps. Ten seconds.

01

Upload a photo

Drag and drop any product photo. No editing needed — Fernscribe works with real-world shots.

02

Choose your platform

Select Etsy, eBay, or both. Each gets a description tuned to what works on that platform.

03

Copy and paste

Your listing description is ready in seconds. Copy it directly into your listing.

FAQ

Questions sellers ask us.

Etsy's own Creativity Standards (etsy.com/legal/creativity) draw a line between items that are AI-designed or AI-generated — art, prints, patterns — and items that are handmade by you, where AI is just a writing tool. If you're making the product yourself and only using Fernscribe for the description, you're in a very different category than AI-generated art. That said, Etsy's policies do evolve, so if you want total peace of mind, it's worth reading their current Creativity Standards yourself rather than taking anyone's word for it — including ours.

Both work. Every plan lets you copy the description into Etsy yourself. On paid plans, you can also connect your Etsy shop and Fernscribe will create the listing as a draft directly in your shop — you still review and hit publish yourself on Etsy's side. This runs on Etsy's own official API (Commercial Access), not a browser extension or workaround.

Every description is written from your actual photo, not a template — that's the whole difference between this and pasting a generic prompt into ChatGPT. Take a look at the comparison on our homepage: same instructions, different photo, different result every time. You can also always edit before publishing.

Always give it a read before you hit publish. Fernscribe writes a strong first draft based on what's visible in the photo plus any details you add (size, materials, shipping) — but it can't know what a photo doesn't show. Treat it like any other draft: one read-through catches the rare miss.

Tags are generated to fit Etsy's format (up to 13 tags, 20 characters each), not generic keywords pulled from nowhere. That said, you know your buyers better than any AI — if a specific search term matters to you, add it in the product name or details before generating, or edit the tags afterward.

Once connected, Fernscribe can create draft listings and read the shop settings needed to fill one out correctly (shipping profiles, return policies, categories). It never activates a listing for you — every draft waits in your Etsy account until you personally review and publish it. You can disconnect the connection anytime from My Account.

You can — and if you enjoy prompt-writing, that's a great option. Fernscribe exists for sellers who'd rather upload a photo than write and re-write prompts every time, especially across dozens of listings. It's built specifically for Etsy/eBay's rules and character limits, not a blank chat window.

No — Fernscribe doesn't store your photos. When you upload one, it's sent securely to our server, processed by AI to generate your description, and then discarded. Nothing is saved to a database or file storage on our end, and your photos aren't used to train any AI models.

Etsy and eBay, with descriptions tailored to each platform's style and character limits.

You can edit it freely before publishing — think of it as a strong first draft, not a final untouchable text.

No — if you can upload a photo, you can use Fernscribe. No prompts, no settings to configure.

Fernscribe is still in early development. We're actively testing and improving it, and your feedback genuinely shapes what we build next. If you have thoughts, ideas, or run into issues, we'd love to hear from you — reach out on Instagram or fill out our quick feedback form.
